Update...

Well, we received our first test back—the one that screens for meningitis—and it came back negative, so obviously, that’s great news. We’re still waiting on a seventy-two hour test result that will tell us if she has sepsis or not, which they can treat, but it will prolong her treatment for an additional seven days. In other words, depending on the sepsis screening we could be here for fourteen days rather than the originally planned seven.

We have already started the IV sessions—twice a day for one hour each—and Regan seems to be handling those well. She is vibrant, feeding, and very much alive with all the energy of a newborn.

We will do our best to keep you informed and update on any information as we receive it, and, as the blog seems the best way to disseminate, we will regularly be posting.

Love,
Ben and Andrea

Ange and Benji, the baby is a cutie but I can tell she resents being called a Shoolie. Hopefully that isn't her first memory, it could be scarring. Praying for you guys and especially the little gal's health. Cheerio.

thanks for the update guys. where do they put the IV in at? when owen had jaundice he wasn't able to eat leading to dehydration. he was so dehydrated that they decided to put an IV in. unfortunately they had an extremely hard time finding a vein. eventually they found one in the side of his head. if you go to this post - http://toddjust.blogspot.com/2008/05/owen-photo-album.html - you'll be able to see one of the pics from the hospital with the IV in his head. not fun, but ultimately it worked out and now we've got a wild man at home. we'll pray for little Regan.

Hey, Andrea!

Tami had group b strep when she was an infant. Now look at her 21 years old! I'll be praying for Regan. She was also on IV antibiotics for a week. Medicine has come a long way since then.
Love you all!!!

I like the name Shoolie. It's better than Andiarrhea (luckily that only lasted a few weeks in 3rd grade). I'm glad she's eating and doing well! Hanging around the hospital is no fun. Make sure you take care of yourselves!

Love you!
